Poppleton & Appleby  “Kickstart Christmas” Ice Skating – December 2017

Here at Poppleton & Appleby, our insolvency practitioners and insolvency specialists spend most of their time helping businesses in distress recover and turn their fortunes around. On this occasion, however, we were right out of our comfort zone, when we organised an early Christmas Networking Event – Insolvency Practitioners On Ice!

Bambi would have been at home at this networking event! Held at Planet Ice in Coventry at the start of December, our aspiring Dancing on Ice competitors – 21 in total – voted for the best skating couple and best Christmas Jumper on the day!

How the Day Panned Out for the Insolvency Practitioners on Ice

Mince pies were served on arrival, and then it was straight into a 1 hour coaching session with a coach from the International School of skating. It’s difficult to say just how much of this really sunk in, but we learned the basics and then we were all partnered up for a ‘fun’ competition on the ice in pairs.

The winning couple was Lara Saunders from Clarke Wilmott and Ben Hudson from Askews Accountants. And an excellent team they made, too.

We then had some informal networking over pizzas after the skating.  As it was 1st Dec everyone wore Christmas jumpers, with a Debenhams voucher for the person who had the best one on. Ben Hudson from Askews, following up his victory on the ice, also won this.

    Happy Christmas to you all

We’ve had a busy year here at Poppleton & Appleby and we’re also delighted that with your help we have raised over £2,000 for MacMillan Cancer Support, as our main charity.

We wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
